Terra Nova Field Trip

October 15, 2011 Uncategorized No Comments

Recently 560 Bonny Slope Elementary students visited the Community Farm at Terra Nova High School, learning about where the food they eat comes from, and how it grows. Terra Nova student mentors hosted guided tours of the farm, a scavenger hunt, and a veggie taste test and trivia.

The tour included an overview of the farm, with hands-on activities like digging for potatoes, an herb/ veggie smell station, a stop by the greenhouse, and a look at the worm composting system. At each stop, students were taught why we use each of these and how they relate to the farm as a whole.

After School Programs

September 18, 2011 Uncategorized No Comments

Our goal is to provide students opportunities outside the classroom for intellectual, academic and social development with programs and clubs that appeal to a broad variety of interests and ages.

Three sessions of after school programs will be offered during the school year. To view Fall 2011 offerings click here.  When selecting classes and clubs, remember:

  • Registration for each is different. Please complete the individual forms and return as indicated on each form.
  • In fairness to all enrolled students, make choices that match your child’s commitment, attention & enthusiasm.
  • Children must be preregistered in order to attend the first session.
  • It is extremely important for parents to remind children of their enrichment class each week and to notify the teacher about the class. (A note in the lunchbox is helpful.)
  • Children must be picked up on-time from the parent pick-up area in front of the school. Alternatively, club leaders can escort Student Stop children to the cafeteria.
  • Only if you have indicated that your child will be walking or biking home, will your child be released on their own.

A limited number of scholarships are available by submitting a confidential written request to Kim Haskins, Principal, before the registration deadline.

If you have any questions or comments, please email omalleymeg@hotmail.com.  We also strongly encourage feedback by completing an Evaluation Form for classes & clubs in which your child(ren) have participated.
