Jog A Thon – May 11, 2012

Bonny Slope Elementary’s Fourth Annual Jog-A-Thon is scheduled for Friday, May 11th.  All students are encouraged to participate in this fun-filled day during which kids will be physically active while helping to raise money for our school.

Information packets will be sent home in April.  Students are asked to work with an adult to solicit pledges to sponsor them on either a “per-lap” or “flat rate” basis.  Encourage kids to talk with friends, neighbors, and relatives for donation pledges.  We are also instituting on-line donations via firstgiving.com.  Parents are asked to help their child create their own fundraising page on this website and obtain on-line pledges.

The Jog-A-Thon is our major spring FUNdraiser at Bonny Slope.  Money raised will be used to support programs that directly enrich our kids’ education, such as Artist in Residence, the Community Garden, Teachers’ Grants, and Educational Support, to name a few.

This event will take place rain or shine on Friday, May 11th, during Rhythms for most grade levels.  Students will have 20 minutes to walk, jog, or run as many laps as they can on the outdoor track.  Prizes will be awarded for top money-earners, most laps run, and others.  Stay tuned to Paw Prints and the hallways at school for more information and as prize donations come in.

If you are interested in donating prizes for the Jog-A-Thon, please let us know as soon as possible.  Anything kid-friendly is appreciated (ie. Nike or Adidas apparel, Timbers or Trailblazers tickets, iPods, Pump It Up passes, etc.).

We will also be asking for parent volunteers for the day of the Jog-A-Thon.  We will need help with each grade level, organizing kids, punching lap cards, counting punches, offering snacks.  Please consider helping out at this fun event.
