The Bonny Slope Science Fair promotes Science in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere where every participant is a winner! Budding scientists will discuss their projects with reviewers and receive positive feedback. And, everyone is welcome to view student projects, participate in hands-on experiments and demonstrations, and have lots of fun!
Creating a science project is one of the best learning experiences a student can undertake. Participating students will:
· Discover that Science is FUN!
· Gain active (“hands-on”) learning and inquiry opportunity
· Learn to manage project timeline over a long duration
· Apply math skills
· Enhance presentation and communication skills
· Increase Science literacy
· Become more knowledgeable about how the world around them works
· Meet Oregon State science standards
· Build confidence and pride
Who can participate?
All Bonny Slope students may enter an individual, pair, or group Science project.

Volunteers Needed
We’d love to get EVERYONE involved, whether you have one hour or several days to give! Many hands make light work. Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire and willingness to help students explore the diversity of Science is all that is required. You DO NOT need to have a Science background or a Science degree – Science is a part of everyone’s life!
Volunteers are welcome to help on the Science Fair (Planning) Committee or on the day of the event. The committee can use volunteers who come from all walks of life – planners, builders, graphic designers, food handlers, shoppers, teachers, and much, much more. Helpful skills for the team include good written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, computer skills, building skills, and interpersonal skills, especially with children. On the day of the event, volunteers are needed for set-up, dinner service, experiment and demonstration assistance, project reviews, and clean-up. Shifts will be available so volunteers can spend part of the time helping and part of the time with their families viewing projects, participating in experiments, or experiencing hands-on demonstrations.
