New Year Fundraising Update
Write-a-Check. Scrip. Box Tops. Restaurant Nights. You’ve heard them all, but how is the Bonny Slope Community Organization fundraising going? We’re making good progress! So far this year we have raised more than 70% of the funds the BSCO has budgeted for the 2008-09 school year.
We wrapped up the Write-a-Check campaign in early December. Our largest fundraiser for this year, the Write-a-Check campaign raised nearly $28,000 for the BSCO, just short of our goal of $29,000. These donations make up over half of the BSCO income for the year. Thank you to everyone who donated to this campaign—no matter how big or small your donation, we appreciate your generosity! Several local employers have also matched donations made by our families- so far we have raised more than $1,900 from matching funds programs and we expect more corporate donations in the coming months.
Scrip, the school’s 2nd biggest fundraiser, is also off to a great start. As of the end of December, the Scrip team had earned more than $2,500 for the school. Despite the shortened sales period due to the Arctic Blast, December Scrip sales were fantastic, earning over $1,100 dollars for the 5th Grade Outdoor School fund. Buying Scrip is a great way for you to help raise money for Bonny Slope without spending any additional money. Help Bonny Slope and make it your goal to place one order per month.
The Box Tops and restaurant night fundraisers are on track and doing well. So far we have raised more than $750 for our school, and we are on track to exceed our fundraising goals on these programs by the end of the year. Thank you to everyone who has supported these fundraisers by cutting their Box Tops and/or attending our pizza restaurant nights in October and December. Our next restaurant night is scheduled for Tuesday February 10th at Si Senor (at the corner of Saltzman and Cornell)—be sure to mark your calendars!
Our last major fundraiser, the Bonny Slope Elementary Jog-A-Thon, is scheduled for Friday, May 8th. This will be a fun way for the kids to help raise money for the school while staying active. Look for the updates on the BSCO website in the coming months.
Our fundraising efforts have helped to make many of the great programs at Bonny Slope possible—including the back to school picnic, the Harvest Festival, Passport Club, Art Literacy, and the Bobcat Trail Club just to name a few. We still have many fantastic programs and events planned for the remainder of the year—including the Science Fair, and BSE’s first school Carnival. Plans for these programs are in the works, but we need to make sure we continue our fundraising so we have the money to pay for these programs.
For more detail about the BSCO budget, feel free to attend the month BSCO meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. The meetings are open to the public. Any fundraising questions can also be directed to Jennifer Epstein at jon-jennifer@comcast.net.
Thanks again to everyone who has supported the BSCO fundraising efforts so far this school year. Please continue to show your support to Bonny Slope – buy your Scrip each month, attend Bonny Slope’s restaurant nights when you can, cut out those Box Tops, and support your child as they participate in the May Jog-A-Thon.
